All about home…

…the people, the place and space…

Making Home Home is a learning forum to support everybody’s lifestyle wherever and with whomever they choose to live. Settings that we call “home” are varied involving accommodation, relationships, community and history. They include family households, care homes, all forms of supported housing, children’s homes, hospices, hostels, residential schools and colleges. Common features are ones of safety, support, care and community. Join the forum, enjoy the posts and pictures…

Making Home Home has evolved from ‘The Residential Forum’ which was established by Dame Gillian Wagner in 1994. The original aim of promoting group and supported living as a ‘positive choice’ for some people at some points in their life continues. As does the intent to advance the right of everybody to enjoy their home wherever they live.

Our supporters are people – residents, tenants, relatives, care and support workers, managers, business owners, charity trustees, academics, trainers, inspectors, commissioners and policy makers – who want to learn, influence and contribute to change in the way we can live together. Supporters believe that society is a living structure of individuals, families and neighbours living in a variety of settings. All have support needs to differing degrees and intensity which may have an impact on where and how they live – where they make their home.
